Hero of your own drama

Watched a documentary about Leonard Cohen. I don't remember the title of the documentary. I don't recommend it either. We had to fast forward through some very bad singers trying to sing Leonard's classics songs. The only good song was Leonard singing backed up by Bono.

One thing Leonard said really struck me. He said that when we give up being the hero of our own drama we're able to step into the real masterpiece. His words remind of what Jesus said about giving up our life to find it.

God's kingdom is the real masterpiece. If I'm trying to be the hero, then there's no room for God.

I've learned that the sweetest times in life are when I've tasted a bit of that masterpiece. I become much more beautiful when I step into that masterpiece that is going on around me.

I'm reminded to lay my life down again, let go again, and enter into the world where what God wants is done. It's like stepping through the wardrobe into the land of Narnia.

Thank you for that reminder and your life of musical poetry Leonard.
